ParTee Shack is expanding its entertainment footprint in Raleigh with a new sister concept called Battle and Birdie, set to open this September at 7311 Six Forks Road. The 19,590-square-foot venue will feature two nine-hole mini golf courses, a bar and lounge, arcade, and two highly themed tactical laser tag arenas.
The new brand targets a more adult audience, with evening hours and elevated food and beverage offerings. ParTee Shack, which already operates two Raleigh locations and one in Greensboro, is eyeing continued growth across the Southeast. A 77,000-square-foot Charleston location is underway, with future expansion plans for Charlotte, Greenville, and Columbia.
Two new businesses are moving into a former Connβs HomePlus store in Raleigh's Capital Crossing shopping center at Capital Boulevard and Millbrook Road. Launch Family Entertainment, a Rhode Island-based company, is planning a trampoline park featuring trampolines, arcades, obstacle courses, and a restaurant.
Next door, Novu Beauty Outlet will open in a 19,000-square-foot space recently purchased for $3.35 million. The new Launch location will compete with several nearby trampoline parks, including Defy and Urban Air. Despite broader national retail closures, the Triangleβs retail market remains strong with over 700,000 square feet of absorption so far in 2024.
Warby Parker is expanding its Triangle footprint with a new store coming to Raleigh's Village District at 437 Daniels Street. The eyewear retailer will replace C.T. Weekends, a longtime womenβs clothing shop that closed last fall, and plans a full interior renovation including an eye exam office.
This will be Warby Parkerβs fourth Triangle location, joining stores in North Hills, Caryβs Fenton, and Durhamβs Streets at Southpoint. The company has opened 11 new stores so far in 2025 and reported nearly $224 million in revenue for the first quarter. The Village District continues to add new tenants, with recent openings like Postino, Copper Penny, Rowan, and Ballard Designs.
Oh Mochi, a Virginia-based Asian street food restaurant, is opening this week at 1141 Falls River Ave. in north Raleighβs Falls River Town Center. The eatery offers Korean corn dogs, mochi doughnuts, boba tea, and ice cream, with plans to rotate through nearly 100 doughnut flavors.
Founder Brian Yoo, who started Oh Mochi in Richmond in 2021, chose Raleigh for its rapid growth and hopes to open additional Triangle locations in the future. The Raleigh store has hired 16 employees, with Yoo and his partners fully self-funding the expansion. The space was previously home to Cheeni Indian Food Emporium.

Southland Speedway seen under construction in June, 1952.
This 1-mile, oval, superspeedway was located just north of the present-day Beltline near present-day Atlantic Avenue and opened 4 July 1952 with a AAA Indy-car race. By 1953, NASCAR sanctioned races began, and the name of the speedway changed to Raleigh Speedway.
The speedwayβs time was short-lived though, only lasting 6 years. After closing in 1958, the track was abandoned and regularly broken into at night for βunsanctionedβ racing.
