Good afternoon, Raleigh. What did one eye say to the other? ๐
Between you and me, something smells. ๐
In todayโs Raleigh Rundown:
6 fun things to do in Raleigh this weekend
Prime land in North Hills for sale
Changes coming to our local news stations
New construction coming to Hillsborough Street
Letโs get to it. ๐
A prime property in midtown Raleigh spanning nearly 28 acres is now on the market, marketed as "Midline Raleigh" and described as "the final piece of the puzzle for Midtown Raleigh." The site includes The Pointe at Midtown apartments and Grove Towers office buildings with high occupancy rates, and is zoned for mixed-use development allowing for residential units, office space, retail, and a hotel.
Kane Realty Corp's COO Bonner Gaylord has expressed "sincere interest" in acquiring and developing the property as the next phase of North Hills. The property, owned by Maryland-based Federal Capital Partners with a combined assessed value exceeding $67 million, represents a "generational opportunity" with a net operating income of $3.6 million.
Durham-based Dogwood Residential has filed site plans for a 108-unit mixed-use building on the site of a former Wells Fargo branch across from N.C. State University on Hillsborough Street. The five-story building (three stories on the Vanderbilt Avenue side) will include 92 one-bedroom units, four two-bedroom units, and 12 three-bedroom units, along with rooftop terraces, amenity space, and ground-floor parking.

The 0.83-acre property, acquired by Dogwood for $3.17 million, will join other significant student housing developments in the area, including the recently acquired University Towers and the massive Hub on Campus luxury apartments under construction.
Joel Davis, WRAL's vice president and general manager since 2018, is leaving the station to join WCAU, the NBC affiliate in Philadelphia. His leadership helped WRAL regain market dominance after ratings declined following their 2016 switch from CBS to NBC, with Heather Gray now stepping in as interim GM. Meanwhile, ABC11, which is based in Durham but expanded its presence in Raleigh in 2005 and again in 2018, has recently debuted a new look from its Durham headquarters.
Despite this renewed focus on its Durham home base, ABC11 plans to maintain its high-profile location in Raleigh. These changes highlight the ongoing adjustments local television stations make to maintain competitive positioning in the growing Raleigh-Durham market.
Hayes Barton Place, a new 5-story luxury senior living complex, has opened at the former Country Club Homes site on Fairview and Oberlin roads in Raleigh. The upscale facility welcomed its first residents in December and features numerous amenities, including a health center, pickleball court, movie theater, and multiple restaurants specially designed for seniors.

The main building contains 169 residences with high-end features like open kitchens and quartz countertops, with monthly fees ranging from $6,615 for 800 square feet to $18,350 for larger units. Developed by Liberty Senior Living, the complex is already 86% occupied, with two-thirds of residents being local and the remainder typically moving to be closer to family. Additional housing options are coming soon, including 3-story terrace homes and 24 condo-style units called The Flats at Bicton, as well as facilities for assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care.
